Made up of three peninsulas in the northern corner of Greece, Halkidiki has been a popular vacation spot for locals and and the international set since the 1950s. Kassandra features some of the most beautiful beaches in the area and is home to elegant resorts and beach clubs. The second peninsula, Sithonia is more rustic and ideal for nature lovers. The third peninsula, Mount Anthos, is the last remaining monastic state in all of Europe. The peninsula is home to 20 monasteries and requires a permit to visit, but curious tourists can take in the views via a boat tour.
